Cancer Nutritionist Providing Personalised Care

As an Oncology Nutritionist, I provide an individualized, metabolic approach to cancer, with a focus on improving quality of life. Dealing with a cancer diagnosis is a formidable challenge, and whilst nutritional therapy isn't intended to cure or treat it, incorporating it as an adjunctive support can bring tremendous benefits.

While your oncology team is dedicated to treating your cancer, my goal as your nutritionist is to support your body at every stage of your journey to improve quality of life and build resilience. Through functional testing*, I assess and address the factors that may have created an environment in which cancer was able to thrive.

This approach covers elements such as the gut microbiome, hormonal imbalances, inflammation, circadian rhythm, stress and emotional well-being, detoxification, genetics and immune function. I am equipped to develop personalised nutrition plans and therapeutic strategies that address the unique needs of my clients.

“You cannot heal in the same environment that made you sick.” (Anon)

How can My Cancer Nutritionist help?

  • If you’ve recently been diagnosed and have a surgery planned, then prehabilitation support can make a big difference with personalised nutrition and physical activity playing a significant part. By working with My Cancer Nutritionist, I’ll tailor a protocol to your specific needs, so you can be confident that you’re preparing your body in the best possible way to reduce complications from surgery, improve recovery times and get yourself to an optimum condition to face the next stage of cancer treatment faster.

  • Chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy and hormone therapy may all come with an intimidating list of side effects such as fatigue, nausea, diarrhoea, dry mouth and hot flushes to name a few. By working with My Cancer Nutritionist, I aim to reduce some of these side effects so you can have a better quality of life, as well as potentially improve the efficacy of treatment.

  • After active treatment, you might be feeling utterly lost, and afraid of what to do next or how to return to a new normal. Treatment can really take it’s toll on your body and mind, and also leave you with niggling symptoms that can last months or even years after treatment. This is the time where My Cancer Nutritionist aims to build you up to optimum strength and vitality so you can get back to normality. I may recommend functional tests specific to the type of therapies you’ve had or the ongoing symptoms you may be experiencing as a result of treatment or due to other factors. My aim is to assess and address your issues.

Conventional oncology medicine is very good at using therapies to target tumours, however it doesn’t address any underlying factors which may have favoured the cancer to grow in the first instance. This is what I’ll aim to investigate. I’ll provide you with the tools and guidance that leave you feeling confident and reassured that you’re doing everything to reduce the risk of recurrence.

  • It’s estimated that cancer will affect at least 50% of the population, so it’s more important than ever to strive for “prevention is better than cure”. By focusing on the five pillars of health: nutrition, sleep, physical activity, stress management, and community, I can help you reduce your risk of a cancer diagnosis.

If you’re worried that cancer may run in the family, just remember that “genes load the gun, diet and lifestyle pull the trigger”, meaning you have the power to take charge in many cases.

Supplement & Medication Contraindication Review £149

Are you aware that supplements have the potential to interact with your medications and could reduce the efficacy of them, even seemingly innocent ones that you may have self prescribed? This one-off review is designed to help you safely and effectively navigate the potential interactions between your medications and any supplements you’re using. This review will:

  • Look at your current supplements and medications to assess any potential interactions that could affect their efficacy or your overall health.

  • Offer clear guidance on adjustments, if necessary, to make sure your supplements and medications are working in harmony, rather than against each other.

  • Provide Peace of Mind: If you’ve been prescribed medications but are also taking over-the-counter supplements, it’s important to know if they are working safely together.

  • Confidence Moving Forward: Whether you’re in active cancer treatment, recovery, or managing other conditions, this review will help you make informed choices about what’s best for your body.

  • Provide a report containing potential interaction risks.

  • A 30 minute call to discuss the findings.

It’s out of my scope to ever advise on any medications. This review does not look into your full health picture & won’t be able to take into account which supplements may be beneficial for you as an individual, if you’re looking for more indepth support then I recommend a 1:1 personalised programme (which all include this contraindication review) - read more about them here. Whilst this review endeavours to cover all possible interactions risks, not all interactions are known or well reported in the scientific literature, and new interactions are continually being reported. Application of clinical judgement is necessary.

My Cancer Nutritionist Testimonials

  • David (Thyroid Cancer)

Working with Jenny has been a tremendous motivating force and has significantly helped me stay accountable throughout my health journey. The testing elements of the program, along with the personalized protocols addressing the results, have been particularly enjoyable and beneficial. These elements have allowed me to focus on my goals, instigate positive habit changes, and set tangible objectives.

The entire process has been incredibly empowering. Instead of just waiting for my next scan and appointment with my oncologist, I now feel a sense of agency in my journey. The protocol documents provided by Jenny are invaluable, offering a vast amount of information explained in a helpful and accessible manner. Having sessions every fortnight has kept me consistently on track.

Initially, I believed I was healthy, but working with Jenny revealed that I was neglecting crucial aspects of my health and diet. This experience has been a total eye-opener, greatly enhancing my self-awareness and highlighting areas for improvement. It has given me a sense of agency I was seeking and helped focus my energy and discipline in new ways. I am now much more mindful of what I eat.

While giving up certain comfort foods like peanut butter and specific carbs has been challenging, I am most proud of my discipline and the ability to achieve my nutrition and lifestyle goals. The progress I have made and the empowerment I feel would not have been possible without Jenny's support. Her expert guidance has been invaluable in navigating the overwhelming and often conflicting information about cancer. Jenny's tailored recommendations have removed the confusion I previously felt and have made a significant difference in my fear of recurrence, giving me the agency to make positive changes.

Jenny is someone I can fully trust, and her expertise has been instrumental in my journey towards better health.

  • Kate (Breast Cancer)

Being diagnosed with breast cancer at 36 wasn’t part of the plan. I felt full of anxiety, lost and out of control. After 6 rounds of chemotherapy, surgery and 2 hospital stays I was feeling weak, fragile and incredibly low. I knew I wanted to do something for me, to help me feel better and pull myself out of this dark place but I didn’t know what or how to do it.

My first session with Jenny was just before I started Radiotherapy, and it felt like the counselling session I hadn’t known I needed. I felt a small shift as I worked on some of the things we had discussed and I felt a small amount of control given back to me over my body. The body which I had previously been so angry at for letting me down- I now realised needed some TLC.

We have covered a range of topics including supplements, diet, exercise, meditation, sleep, toxin exposure and stress management. Over this time my energy levels have improved massively along with a reduction in other treatment side effects I was experiencing.

My biggest take away from working with Jenny is that I have a sense of control over my body and how I’m feeling- a tool kit to help me. Thank you Jenny for making me feel like me again.

  • Helen (Pancreatic Cancer)

I have found working with Jenny from My Cancer Nutritionist transformational. When I started working with her, I was probably in the worst place of my life. She kindly worked at a pace that worked for me. She listened at times when I said I couldn't cope with certain changes and supported me wholeheartedly with changes I could make. She put gentle pressure on me to do things that would really benefit me - and we have a good laugh about cabbage juice.

She investigated and recommended a number of supplements that would help my specific cancer and my general health. I struggled through chemo and surgery and Jenny advised me on adjustments to my supplements to support each of the stages I was at. She advises on so much more than diet and I have no doubt I feel better having introduced these changes.

I felt better and happier than I had in the 18 months since my diagnosis, my system felt balanced and so many of my symptoms (that had made me so miserable) were improved.

I look forward to my weekly catchups with Jenny, she is a tonic in herself and I'm always uplifted by the end of our call. She's always calm and reassuring. There are so many distractions when you're dealing with cancer and Jenny has helped short cut much research I would otherwise have needed to do.

I'm very grateful to have Jenny on my team. She is the most positive person and I don't know what I would do without her.”

  • Julie (Lung Cancer)

“I was diagnosed with cancer in 2021. I am very grateful to be benefiting from the latest science, which is combating cancer, but I wanted to include a more holistic approach in my overall lifestyle. At the end of 2022 I approached Jenny about a nutritional plan to accompany the clinical treatment I’m receiving.

I feel that working with Jenny from My Cancer Nutritionist was much bigger than nutrition, I was encouraged to look at all areas of my lifestyle and to be much more proactive in the treatment of my disease. Results from blood tests were requested, so any gaps in my nutrition could be fully assessed. Toxic load was also addressed, and we looked at areas where this could be improved. Alongside dietary requirements, we also looked at exercise and meditation.

By making the adjustments Jenny suggested, I strongly feel that I am now taking on the role as my own health advocate, rather than being a passive patient, and taking positive steps to improve my health. I highly recommend the service Jenny provides.”

  • Val (Pancreatic Cancer)

I cannot recommend Jenny King from My Cancer Nutritionist more highly or be more satisfied. I immediately felt empathy from Jenny and comfort from her knowledge in cancer nutrition and her own cancer experience.

The wealth of information provided including the protocols, plans, factsheets and reference guides are easy to use, understand and introduce into your daily lifestyle. I was blown away by the amount of positive changes that you can make to your food and lifestyle and with Jenny meeting every week online, it didn't seem overwhelming.

You have to be disciplined and committed but with Jenny on board and knowing there is a weekly check in online, this has been easier to manage. It also has been great to be able to involve friends and family on this cancer nutrition journey and lifestyle changes. It has definitely helped us all not just focus with the clinical side such as hospital appointments, chemo sessions and blood test results but focus on being healthy, beating the enemy and having fun.

I feel that Jenny has given me both encouragement, direction, positivity and provided a holistic approach to my overall cancer treatment….I have had no side effects from chemo and am progressing well. I also lost some excess fat I had built up in between last year and diagnosis and am now sustaining my ideal body weight which has also helped with my chemo treatment in my view. It also bodes well for any potential operation after chemo.

I would recommend all cancer warriors to contact Jenny as she gives confidence that she has something in the armoury for every stage however positive or challenging the journey is and however long the journey needs to be.”

  • Meredith (Breast Cancer)

Jenny from My Cancer Nutritionist is fabulous – incredibly knowledgeable, professional, responsive, compassionate and utterly dedicated to helping her clients navigate their cancer journeys. As a cancer survivor herself, Jenny truly gets it. She helped me immensely when my sleep deteriorated as I was recovering from breast cancer surgery. I wouldn’t contemplate going to anyone else for my nutrition needs.

  • Rhian (Breast Cancer)

Working with Jenny has been very empowering. She has been you have been an immense support on this journey. I can't thank her enough.

I signed up for the 12 week warrior 2 programme. Within that time we did health DNA testing along side Dutch test and stool testing. This enabled Jenny to really dig in and share her knowledge whilst guiding me through lifestyle changes. Lost over 15kgs and put good habits in place to reduce my risk of cancer recurrence. I thoroughly enjoyed my calls with Jenny and would highly recommend her services.

  • Andreas (Prostate Cancer)
